Solvay, a world leader in the chemical, pharmaceutical and plastic materials sector, commissioned Global Planning Architecture to redesign an industrial warehouse on its site in Bollate. The project is part of a wider redevelopment strategy of the existing areas promoted by Solvay. It involves the repositioning of machinery in the building and the transfer of other equipment as well as integration with the premises where production work is carried out.
Global Planning Architecture did not limit its involvement to reorganisation, but also proposed an interior design concept that aims to maximise the potential of the industrial warehouse. The internal surfaces were dismantled and the best way to use colour was studied, both for clearly marking the areas and simplifying architectural elements such as the suspended ceiling. The building lighting was subsequently redesigned to create a more orderly, balanced environment.
